Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED OCTOBER 25, 2026

Codeshock (“we”, “us”) runs codeshock.dev. We collect as little as we can. This policy explains what that is, why we have it, and what you can do about it.

The short version

  • No accounts, no analytics trackers, no advertising pixels and no cookies set by this site.
  • If you join Code Shock Weekly, we keep your email address so we can send it to you. We never sell it.
  • If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can reply.

What we collect

Newsletter sign-ups. When you join Code Shock Weekly from the footer form, we collect your email address. It goes into a queue in Google Cloud Firestore and then to our own self-hosted Listmonk mailing server. We send a confirmation email first, and you are only subscribed after you confirm it.

Abuse protection. To stop the sign-up form from being abused, we rate-limit requests by IP address. We store only a one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP, never the raw address, and each rate-limit window expires.

Emails you send us. If you email support@codeshock.dev or use a “Start a project” link, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to talk about the project.

Hosting logs. The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google). Like any web host, Google may process standard request data such as IP address, browser user agent and the pages requested to deliver and secure the site.

Fonts. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers to fetch them.

How we use it

We use your information only to:

  • send the newsletter you asked for,
  • reply to your messages and work on projects with you,
  • keep the site and sign-up form secure and working.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers that process data for us: Google (Firebase Hosting, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions and Google Fonts) and the host of our Listmonk server. They may only use it to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Hashed IPs for rate limiting: only for the short rate-limit window.
  • Email conversations: as long as needed for the relationship, then deleted when no longer useful.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every newsletter.
  • Access, correct or delete your information by emailing support@codeshock.dev. We will respond within 30 days.

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you may have more rights, such as objecting to processing or filing a complaint with a data protection authority. Email us and we will help.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us their data, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be called out in the newsletter.
